Abstract

jantung. Penatalaksanaan hipertensi tidak hanya mengandalkan terapi
farmakologis, namun juga perlu pendekatan nonfarmakologis seperti
penggunaan tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA). Daun salam (Syzygium
Puskesmas Maccini Sawah, Kota Makassar.
holistik.

Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that has a
high risk of causing serious complications such as stroke and heart failure.
Hypertension management does not only rely on pharmacological therapy,
but also requires a non-pharmacological approach such as the use of
family medicinal plants (TOGA). Bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) are
known to contain flavonoids, tannins, and essential oils that have
vasodilator and diuretic effects so that they have the potential to lower
blood pressure. This study aims to apply boiled bay leaf water as a
nursing intervention in lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients in
the Maccini Sawah Health Center work area, Makassar City. The method
used is a case study of one hypertensive patient with blood pressure
measurements before and after the bay leaf decoction intervention. The
results showed a decrease in blood pressure after the intervention was
given routinely. These findings support the potential of bay leaves as an
effective, safe, and affordable complementary therapy. This intervention is
expected to be widely applied in community nursing practice to support
holistic hypertension management.
